Mr. Poterfield is the N.Y.C. School
Construction Authority/Level" Project Officer - Queens, New
York. Mr. Poterfield participates in the scope, design, and Bid/Award
process as well as managing all phases of C.I.P. and modular addition
projects up to 40M dollars.
His skills include reviewing pay
requests, preparing weekly/monthly progress reports cost
estimates, and change orders. Other responsibilities consist of
setting up laboratory testing; conducting pre-construction meetings,
substantial completion/final inspections and project closeout.
Mr. Melvin Porterfield is also
the President & CEO, of Protech Construction Service. Mr.
Porterfield's company performs general construction work and labor
on behalf of various projects. His company has converted houses
into office buildings, such as for the Sicklerville Rehabilitation
Center and various other construction related projects in Atlanta,
Georgia.
Mr. Porterfield will work with
B.U.I.L.D. Management in the areas of Project Scheduling, Stick
Construction, Renovation and Training. Mr. Porterfield will also
be responsible for supervising inspections on B.U.I.L.D Management
Projects.
Mr. Porterfield previous work
experience includes Don Todd Associates/Obrien-Kreitzberg. While
with this firm Mr. Porterfield supervised and coordinated the
activities of Project Managers and inspections on various construction
projects for the N.Y.C. School Construction Authority.
He also was responsible for engineering
and inspection of the U.S. Post Office Manhattan Vehicle Maintenance
Facility in New York City. Duties included coordinating Contractor
submittals, posting drawing changes and latest policies for inspectors,
meeting with architect to resolve engineering problems arising
from previously undefined site conditions. Mr. Porterfield has
a BS in Civil Engineering from Temple University.
